Invisalign®️ Treatment in Calgary, AB

Invisalign®️ clear aligners are virtually invisible aligners that allow you to straighten your teeth discreetly. Unlike traditional braces that call attention to your orthodontic treatment, Invisalign offers you the privacy and flexibility to go about your business without changing many aspects of your life.

Invisalign clear aligners are custom-made and, as such, are well-fitting and comfortable. They’re also removable, and you can take them off when you need to eat or clean your teeth. What’s more, Invisalign has been shown to correct the misalignment problem in a shorter time compared to conventional metal braces.

Are you looking for Invisalign near you? Call Sedona Dental today to schedule an appointment with our dentist in Calgary.

In most cases, malocclusion or improper alignment of teeth is an inherited condition. That means that parents can pass down this defect to their children.

Sometimes, certain harmful habits can also negatively impact your teeth alignment, leading to malocclusion. Such habits include:

  • Childhood thumb-sucking
  • Improper use of or over-reliance on a pacifier beyond age 3
  • Extended bottle-feeding

Other factors that can contribute to teeth alignment problems include mouth breathing, injuries to the jaw, cleft lip, and jaw tumors, among others.

There are different types of malocclusion, including open bite, underbite, crossbite, overbite, and crowding. Invisalign is used in the correction of various types of malocclusion. Only in cases of severe malocclusion will our dentist in Calgary defer you to conventional metal braces.

Besides affecting your dental aesthetics, teeth misalignment also compromises dental health by making it harder for you to clean your teeth properly. When your teeth are crooked, you may not adequately access all areas when brushing or flossing.

Malocclusion can also lead to severe, long-term conditions such as temporomandibular joint disorders.

Getting help for your bite problems will allow you to live a healthy and fulfilling life that isn’t marred by dental issues.

How Does Invisalign Treatment Work?

During your appointment, our dentist in Calgary will meticulously examine you to determine the range of your bite problems. Afterward, we will take digital images of your bite and teeth impressions and send this to the Invisalign lab. Thanks to Invisalign software, we will show you simulations of what you can expect at the end of your treatment.

After receiving your dental impressions and scans, the Invisalign team embarks on creating custom trays or aligners. Some four or so weeks later, you will receive a set of aligners that you need to wear progressively and in sequential order for several months. You will use each tray for approximately two weeks at a time, before moving to the next aligner. Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign treatment doesn’t require you to come in for frequent adjustments by the dentist.

However, our dentist in Calgary will book you for progress checks every six weeks.
